Trustap's online and face-to-face transaction models are designed to provide users with peace of mind going into a transaction with a stranger. There are some cases, however, where one model is better suited to a particular transaction than the other.
For example, a transaction using post/courier delivery is often better suited for transactions involving smaller items, where it would be impractical to meet the other party in person. An online transaction is also the best choice for transactions taking place between two users for whom a face-to-face meeting is difficult or impossible, e.g. users in different countries.
A face-to-face transaction is better for transactions where the item's price has to be negotiated after seeing it in person, or the item is too big to be shipped. A good example of this is the sale of a car. When buying a car, it is important to both inspect it in person and, if possible, test drive it before agreeing on a price. The face-to-face model may also be more convenient for transactions where both parties live close to each other.
1st model: Transactions using post/courier delivery
-
A transaction involving smaller items easily shippable
-
When it would be impractical to meet the other party in person (living far away, for example)
Examples: Books, Clothes, Electronics, boardgames, figurines, collectables, 2 hand items and more.
Things to note:
- If you chose this model, the Seller must enter tracking details to allow the transaction to progress.
- The Seller will only have a set period to provide the tracking details (4 days from when the payment is confirmed).
- The transaction will be cancelled if the Seller fails to provide tracking details within the allocated timeframe.

2nd model: Transactions using the face-to-face exchange of the item OR transactions involving Digital Goods
-
A transaction involving a larger item that might be too big to be shipped
-
A transaction involving an animal
-
A transaction where the item's price has to be negotiated after seeing it in person
-
A transaction where the item or service cannot be exchanged straight away
-
A transaction involving digital goods that cannot be shipped
Examples:
The sale of a car (When buying a car, it is important to both inspect it in person and, if possible, test drive it before agreeing on a price)
Digital Goods or Services, such as web design, e-tickets, online games, and Freelancer services, Pets
Things to note:
This model offers the opportunity to pay in 2 instalments: a first DEPOSIT payment to secure the item and a second REMAINDER payment to cover the full agreed price. The deposit payment is refundable to the Buyer (minus the Buyer Protection fee) should the sale fall through. The remainder payment is optional and can be skipped.
There is no time limit for the item to be exchanged. However, if the handover confirmation takes an abnormal amount of time, Trustap support may contact you to check if you require any assistance or advice.
Important: The 24-hour buyer protection only covers the amount you pay through our platform. However, if you still decide to pay part now through our platform and part later in cash-in-hand to the Seller, we are not responsible for any extra amount you pay the Seller in cash. In case of any dispute or complaint, we can only protect you for the amount you paid through our system.
