Choosing the Right Trustap Model for You
Trustap offers two ways to buy and sell: online and face-to-face. Both options keep your money safe, but sometimes one is better than the other.
Online Transactions (Shipping)
Examples: Books, Clothes, Electronics, boardgames, figurines, collectibles, second-hand items, and more.
Best for:
-
Smaller items that can be shipped.
-
When it would be impractical to meet the other party in person (living far away, for example)
How it works:
-
The buyer submits a payment to Trustap
-
The seller sends the item and provides the tracking details
-
The shipping company confirms the delivery and the complaint period starts. To learn more about the complaint period, check this article
-
The complaint period ends and Trustap releases the payment
Important:
The seller must provide tracking information within 4 days of the buyer making their payment.
Examples: Books, Clothes, Electronics, boardgames, figurines, collectibles, second-hand items, and more.
Face-to-face Transactions (in person - or digital - exchange fo the item)
Examples: The sale of a car, animals, digital goods or services, such as web design, e-tickets, online games, and Freelancer services
Best for:
-
Larger items or items that cannot be shipped (animals, for example)
-
Items you want to inspect first before agreeing on a final price
-
When you live nearby and can easily meet
-
Digital goods or services
Note:
This model lets you pay in 2 installments: a first DEPOSIT payment to secure the item and a second REMAINDER payment to cover the full agreed price. The deposit payment is refundable to the Buyer (minus the Trustap fee) should the sale fall through. The remainder payment is optional and can be skipped.
How it works:
-
The buyer pays a deposit to Trustap
-
Buyer and seller meet in person to exchange the item
-
If needed, the buyer and the seller agree on a final price and the buyer pays the remainder payment to Trustap (this step can be skipped)
-
The buyer or the seller confirms the handover and the complaint period starts. To learn more about the complaint period, check this article
-
The complaint period ends and Trustap releases the payment to the seller
Important:
You can only get protection for the amount paid through Trustap.
